Going Green

It seems like everything has a "go green" campaign linked to it these days. Vegetarians are also promoting a greener earth. A report by the United Nations stated that raising animals for food is “one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global." Adding that "livestock’s contribution to environmental problems is on a massive scale."
Animal poop gives off gases like hydrogen sulfide and ammonia which poison the air around farms, and don't forget the methane and nitrous oxide that are major contributors to global warming. Forests are being torn down to make more room for factory farms, this destruction causes soil erosion, allows for species to go extinct and lose their habitat.

What about this, studies show that humans who live near these factory farms have become very sick from the pollution. Where's Erin Brocovich when you need her?

Need another reason to go green? A vegetarian saves more than 100 animals and 1 acre of trees every year! Here's just a little more information on it. http://www.thatsfit.com/2008/01/28/eating-less-meat-may-be-eco-friendly/
